Colourful and Healthy Drink Choices

No Diet Liquid Protein Colourful and Healthy Drink Choices.

When creating smoothies or health drinks, we need to try and incorporate some artistic flair in the preparation, to ensure the whole family is enticed to have it. This is most important when children are involved.

While preparing our green smoothie for breakfast. The fruit combination I used were coconut, papaya, and oranges. When I finished making my green smoothie, I realized that I had enough papaya already cut up to make some papaya juice. I also had enough coconut juice left for a pitcher. I then decided to make it a trio of choices - papaya, coconut, and orange juice. Instead of juicing my oranges, I just peeled and cut them in half to reveal the pits, which I took off. Then I proceeded to blend them in my Vitamix with a couple of cups of water.

For those that love to juice their drinks, remember that juicing removes the fiber from the drink. Fibers as we all know are essential for an effective and efficient bowel movement. Our digestion needs the fibers... so let's not take it out. Besides, we pay for a whole fruit, why do we only get the liquid part of it then? And why will we get rid of the rest of the fruit that has in it a ton of nutrients and vitamins and minerals to give us. Take advantage of the whole fruit and the whole plant by blending.

After I blended all the fruit and put them in pitchers, I was very pleased with myself that I decided to take a photo of my creation and share it with you. I didn't have enough nice looking pitchers, so I decided to pour the drinks in glasses and arrange them for a photo shoot.

Some trivia notes about my fruit drinks:

1) Fresh coconut juice with some of its young flesh - This is an amazing health drink that I am so happy to be able to enjoy so often here in Sri Lanka. Coconut juice has high levels of electrolytes and minerals in it. It has nitrogen, phosphoric acid, potassium, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, iron, and other trace minerals. It is a better alternative to drinking energy drinks as it is a natural isotonic drink with very low amounts of natural sugars and sodium unlike a lot of the energy drinks out there that contain high levels of sugars and sodium. It is used in some developing countries as an intravenous feed because it is a universal donor and is identical to human blood plasma.

2) Fresh papaya drink - This amazing drink is anti-cancer. So in countries where we don't have strawberries and worry about not having the benefits of the antioxidants in berries.....don't fear as God gave as the papaya. The papaya is a great source of Vitamin C, E, beta-carotene, proteolytic enzymes, and other trace minerals. Therefore eating papaya not only sorts your digestion by helping break down your proteins, it has got so many antioxidants that can get you healthier and cancer-free. It is also a very effective anti-inflammatory.

3) Fresh Orange drink - As we all know oranges have high levels of vitamin C and bioflavanoids in them. But did you know that it also has high levels of beta-carotene, calcium, folic acid, magnesium, potassium, thiamin, vit A, and B6. An orange is a complete multi-vitamin in itself and is known to boost the immune system and prevent colds, coughs, and other respiratory issues.

After having presented it that way, can you now see why I was extremely excited to share it with you. Not only did I have a colourful array for the children to choose from, but I also had a very healthy and yummy set of drinks for my family to choose from, aside from the usual green smoothie.

Create your healthy and colourful set of drinks for your family now. Happy blending.
